Dr. Elizabeth Buchanan, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Hi! My name is Dr. Elizabeth Buchanan, better known as Lizze.
I’m so happy you’re here.
I started my career as a progressive cardiac care nurse after completing my Bachelor’s of Nursing Science (BSN) in 2017 from the University of Louisville in Louisville, Kentucky. A year later, I returned to graduate school to pursue a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree. My doctoral study researched how our bodies metabolize medications differently and utilizing this information in treatment planning.
Throughout this program I was able to meet the requirements to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP). During my clinical rotations I gained experience in a pediatric clinic, a practice for aging adults, an LGBTQ+ clinic where I was lucky enough to learn so much about mental health care for the transgender population.
I am board certified through the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) and hold a “Lifespan” credential, which means I am able to treat ages 4 and older.
Since graduation, I completed Duke’s Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) Fellowship for treatment resistant depression, obtained my Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) certification for the treatment of substance use, worked in a community health clinic, and became a certified ADHD Certified Clinical Service Provider (ADHD-CCSP).
I am committed to providing my clients with the most up to date, effective care by actively staying educated and knowledgeable about new treatment modalities.
I look forward to working with you.
