Hi! My name is Dr. Elizabeth Buchanan.
I’m so happy you’re here.
I’m a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and the founder of Don’t Mind Me Psychiatry, where I focus on compassionate, ethical care that leads to real progress—not just prescriptions.
I’m originally from Troy, NY, and after earning my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Louisville, KY in 2017, I worked in cardiac care before returning for my DNP and PMHNP certification in 2021. Since then, I’ve loved working with patients, learning, and growing in my practice.
I became especially passionate about ADHD treatment because it’s more complex than people realize. While ADHD is widely talked about online, much of the information is oversimplified or misleading. My goal is to provide evidence-based ADHD care that helps patients make real progress—not just hand out a diagnosis and a prescription.
Before starting this practice, I worked in settings that made it difficult to provide the care I believe in. I wanted a space where patients feel heard, treatment is thoughtful, and care is never rushed or reckless—so I built one. Too many people stay stuck in the same cycle, seeing providers who don’t listen, overprescribe, or ignore bad reactions. That’s not how I do things.
